In the development of new antimicrobial agents, it is necessary to switch to whole organism studies using animal models after the in vitro studies carried out in the first stage. The Zebrafish Lab is the only one to carry out such trials with zebrafish.

The most impressive feature of this model is the possibility of performing non-invasive, high-resolution, long-term time-lapse and time-course experiments to visualize infection dynamics with fluorescent markers in the transparent embryo. Furthermore, the zebrafish immune system displays many similarities to that of mammals, with counterparts for most of the human immune cell types. The Zebrafish Lab offers numerous types of studies for testing antimicrobials, antifungals, along with newer therapies using antibodies.
